Conservation & Restoration

The goal of our conservation and restoration efforts is to keep the Illinois River and its tributaries as a fully functioning ecosystem, where ecological protection, conservation and economically productive uses support diverse aquatic and riparian communities, meet all state and federal water quality standards, promote economic sustainability and provide recreational opportunities.

Our annual Riparian Project in multiple cities throughout the watershed, green infrastructure projects such as rain gardens and low impact development projects and working with landowners within the watershed are just a few examples of our conservation and restoration efforts we are working together with our partners on to implement and improve water quality.

Check out how you can join us in these efforts and learn more about these conservation practices for implementation where you live in the watershed.
