Revisiting Stan the Steward

Back in August of 2023 we discussed how Stan Oller and his family have been intentional stewards on their farm in Lincoln, Arkansas. We are happy to say Stan and Coral Oller remain steadfast in their commitment to continuous improvement on their farm, and continue working hand in hand with IRWP to improve the water quality within the Illinois River Watershed.

This month on June 15th the Ollers graciously hosted a pasture walk on their farm in conjunction with the Grassroots Grazing Group (GGG) and IRWP. This event served as a platform for the exchange of insights and experiences gathered from their dedicated efforts on the farm and their collaboration with IRWP.

At this pasture walk we discussed management practices that support improved water quality, increase soil’s water holding capacity, and reduce runoff from pastures. Events like this are invaluable for fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration among local producers and farmers. By sharing their experiences and insights, they're not only helping others enhance their own practices but also making significant contributions to water quality and environmental sustainability within the Illinois River Watershed.
